Online courses are set-your-own pace with occasional checkpoints and constant online support.
To complete this course students must show a display of effort, enthusiasm, and improvement in each aspect of the course.All classes are a simple pass/fail grade. Nine of the courses are online where you will set your own pace while learning about a variety of topics. The remaining three courses are hands-on design courses where students and educators get together to share in their journey and learn about floral design.

The ICF program is an introductory window into the daily skills of being a florist. Throughout the 12 courses and classes, you will morph into a multi-faceted designer, with insight on how to operate a business as well as design for one.Learn about daily business practices like managing your costs, effective marketing strategies, handling customer and employee conflicts while also exploring hands-on floristry techniques, principles of design, and mastering your mechanics.
Hands-on classes are a time to get together, dive deeper, apply skills, and build a community. Each hands-on class requires students to bring their own tools and travel to the class location. Class locations will vary

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
PRINCIPLES AND ELEMENTS OF DESIGN
Course #1 - $75
Learn the most crucial and foundational basis of floral design in this first ICF course. Understand how to make designs that not only look beautiful but make sense. Gather information on technical skills like mechanics, line, and form. Then apply these skills to the rest of the ICF courses, classes, and the rest of your floristry career.
CARE AND HANDLING OF CUT FLOWERS AND FOLIAGES
Course #2 - $75
A flower arrangement can be beautiful and perfectly designed, but if it only lasts for one to two days you won't have happy customers and your reputation will be tarnished. Learn in this course how to process flowers and foliages the right way in a timely and long-lasting way. Put old wives tales to rest by learning what flowers and foliages need warm vs. cold water and get information on the benefits of different floral food solutions to keep money in your pocket and out of your buckets.
Course #3 - $75
Now that you know how to construct an arrangement as well as process the flowers and foliages for an arrangement, learn how to provide excellent customer service. Whether you're challenged with a last minute and far-fetched request or are dealing with a customer conflict, learn the tips and tricks that actually work.
CARE AND HANDLING OF FOLIAGE AND FLOWERING PLANTS
Course #4 - $75
Plants are trending and they can be an easy money maker. Learn which plants are hot items, which are suitable for memorials, and which are exciting and different. From succulents to kalanchoes, learn the basics of plant categories, care tips, and more.
Course #5 - $75
You just get your arrangement off your bench and headed out the door - the design was great, customer requests met, and fresh flowers and foliages that you know will long. What could go wrong? Ahhh yes...delivery. With every arrangement you send out the door you risk an error. Delivery mishaps happen...vases get broke, flowers tip over and hugged, and car wrecks happen. Learn in this course how to hire, educate, and give your delivery drivers confidence in their tasks.
Course #6 - $75
For most florists, their products extend beyond floristry. For those florists who pair their fresh flower and plants with gift items and home decor, you may be scratching your head on how to move this product and turn a profit. Learn where to place hot items in your store, how to sell add-on options, and how to select your merchandise so you turn a profit while preventing you inventory from going stale.
ADVERTISING AND PROMOTION
Course #7 - $75
Give your skills and talents the boost they deserve with effective advertising and promotions tips. Gain insight on what works for other florists to sell your talents during holiday seasons, weddings, and more. Learn when customers are most likely to buy, where they look for deals, and how to stay relevant with social media advertising and promotion.
Course #8 - $75
A business is only strong as its employees and with this course, you will learn how to manage employees as well as be a good employee yourself. Learn how to squash conflicts, address wages and education opportunities, construct and honor contracts, and so much more. Although many think working as a florist is all fun and a glorified hobby, in actuality, it is a real job.
DAILY BUSINESS PROCEDURES
Course #9 - $75
We've covered most major topics, but what about each and every little thing in between? Learn about how to manage your costs, honor employees, and keep your shop running smoothly with this final course.
Each class and course is $75 with all classes and courses payable online. Pay-as-you-go or add a few classes and courses to your cart and pay for a few at once.
PRINCIPLES AND ELEMENTS OF DESIGN
Class #1 - $75
Put the skills and knowledge of the online course to the test in this hands-on course. Play with line, proportion, shape, and style while designing your own fresh floral arrangements. Grow together with the rest of your ICF comrades and instructors while swapping tips and tricks.
Class #2 - $75
One of the most profitable and high-pressure aspects of floral design is wedding work. Learn first how to handle couples and their requests, while keeping your design integrity and style and turning a profit. Practice bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres and discuss the technicalities of suspended floral installations, floral hoops, headpieces, and more.
Class #3 - $75
Although floristry largely revolves around joyful occasions, a huge part of what we do is provide tributes and memorials to those who have passed away. In practices that date back hundreds of years, flowers have been customary at many celebrations of life and evoke emotion that other gifts and tributes cannot. Learn in this course how to deal with grieving family and friends, foster good relationships with funeral directors, and construct beautiful sympathy designs that stand out.
